"I had the pleasure of being on a David Hemmings workshop to the Falkland Islands in 2012. David was a wonderful leader and a great instructor. He has a lot of patience when teaching and I loved his whacky sense of humour!  D. Morrison

This workshop has been designed to maximize our photography opportunities to shoot as many species as possible that the Falklands has to offer. We will be photographing on five different islands on these workshops! The trip will allow for opportunities to photograph newborn penguins as well as possibly Orcas hunting close to shore for Sea Lion pups. The trip will also be spectacular for chick and parent interaction at the penguin and albatross colonies that we will be visiting. At many destinations around the Islands, visitors will find themselves alone in a rookery, on the hillside or by a waters-edge, able to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells as a very personal encounter. The birds here not bothered by human presence and will often come right up to you out of curiosity!  Check out this impressive list of species we will encounter:Penguins: King, Gentoo, Magellanic, Rockhopper Seabirds:  Black-browed Albatross,Falkland Skua, Imperial Cormorant,Kelp Gull, Rock Cormorant, Sooty Shearwater, South American Tern, Southern Giant Petrel. Waterbirds: Falklands steamer Duck (endemic), Black-necked Swan, Chiloe Wigeon, Cinammon Teal, Crested Duck, Ruddy-headed Goose, Kelp Goose,  Silver Teal, Silvery Grebe, White-tufted Grebe Upland Goose and Yellow-billed Pintail. Shorebirds: Blackish Oystercatcher, Magellanic Oystercatcher, Magellanic Snipe, Rufous-chested Dotterel, Snowy Sheathbill, Two-banded Plover and white-rumped Sandpiper. Land Birds: Cobb's Wren (endemic), Falkland Pipit, Peregrine Falcon, Short-eared Owl, Southern Caracara, Striated Caracara,Tussac Bird, Variable Hawk and the Long-tailed Meadowlark.
